Outlook Express Change Properties

  1. In Outlook Express, click on Tools menu.

  2. Click on the Accounts menu item.

1. Click on the Mail tab.

Click on the Servers tab.


We are going to try 5 different variations of setting the Properties in the Servers . We will try 1 at a time, so please be patience as we might have to try all 5 variations before your Outlook Express works with your specific email account.


Variation 1

  1. In the Account Name text box, remove the part of your email address after the "@".

    In this example, "JoeCool@PowersEnterprise.com" is changed to "JoeCool".


  2. Click OK .

  3. After you click OK, click on the "Send/Receive" button as you did before. If it does not work, we have 4 more variations to try...

Variation 2

  1. In the Incoming mail , change the word "mail" to "popmail".
  2. In the Outgoing mail , change the word "mail" to "smtp"

  3. In the Account Name text box, type in your email address.

  4. Click OK .

  5. After you click OK, click on the " Send/Receive" button as you did before. If it does not work, we have 3 more variations to try...

Variation 3

  1. In the Incoming mail , change the word "mail" to "popmail".
  2. In the Outgoing mail , change the word "mail" to "smtp"

  3. In the Account Name text box, remove the part of your email address after the "@" as you did in Variation 1

  4. Click OK .

  5. After you click OK, click on the " Send/Receive" button as you did before. If it does not work, we have 2 more variations to try...

Variation 4

  1. In the Incoming mail , change the word "mail" to "pop".
  2. In the Outgoing mail , change the word "mail" to "smtp"

  3. In the Account Name text box, remove the part of your email address after the "@" as you did in Variation 1

  4. Click OK .

  5. After you click OK, click on the " Send/Receive" button as you did before. If it does not work, we have 1 more variation to try...
